JLM Studio is my in home lesson studio for piano and wind instruments for all ages teaching beginner to intermediate level.

  • Personalized lessons

    Everyone learns differently, I will work with you to modify instruction to each students. My goal is to keep lessons informative and fun, with hands on skills and theory intermixed.

  • 6+ Years of Teaching Experience

    I offer instruction in piano, guitar, and wind instruments - including flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium and/or tuba.

  • Bachelor's in Music Therapy

    I studied Music Therapy at Illinois State University. My main instrument was piano, but I learned competency on all major instruments.

My Approach

Observation

I believe with some time and attention to your abilities, anyone can read and play music on an instrument. I will observe you as you step out into your musical journey and see what adjustments need to be made to help you be successful to learn and play music. I like to use a combination of method books and supplemental exercises and songs to help you learn.

Collaborative

This is something I cannot do alone, as you need to put time and effort in to practicing in order to progress. For beginners, something as small as 15-20 minutes each day can improve your skills If you are older or have more experience, I encourage 30-45 minutes every day for your skills to improve.

  • First things first, just ask questions. We'll start with a free meet and greet to get acquainted and to assess where to start.

  • Pricing is by the lesson minute increment -

    • 30 minute lesson for $45

    • 45 minute lesson for $60

    • 60 minute lesson for $80

  • I currently book month by month, for billing purposes.

    I ask that written notice (letter or email) is given 2 weeks before any lesson termination.
